Smile 2 Director Hints at Plans for Another Sequel After Positive Response

Smile 2 director Parker Finn recently teased the possibility of sequels following the success of the first film. Smile , released last year, earned a surprising $217.4 million worldwide on a budget of just $17 million. Thanks to positive results from audiences and critics, Smile 2 also has the potential to be as successful as its predecessor.


In the second film, we follow Skye Riley, a pop singer played by Naomi Scott. Skye finds herself trapped in the same curse as she prepares to embark on a world tour.


In addition to Naomi Scott, we'll also see Kyle Gallner returning as Joel, who was trapped in the curse in the first film, and Lukas Gage as Lewis Fregoli, who has a tragic story related to Skye. There's also Peter Jacobson as Morris, who tries to help Skye overcome the curse.


Smile 2 director has teased plans for another sequel!


Since its release, Smile 2 has also received many positive comments and until this article was written, the film received an 85% score on Rotten Tomattoes.


This positive response also made Finn, in an interview with Screen Rant, tease that there are still many things that can be explored for the Smile franchise.


“I think there are so many interesting places that Smile could go. For me, it’s still always about wanting to do something thematically rich that centers on a character story. I love where the film is going, and right now I’m excited for audiences to see Smile 2. Hopefully, if they embrace it, I think there could be a really interesting future for Smile,” he said.

The Smile film itself was inspired by a short film made by Finn in 2020 titled Laura Hasn't Slept , which also serves as a prequel.
